“Don’t worry about the things I said don’t worry until it is time to. Ok.”
“That’s not what I was thinking about. I just was thinking about when you get a divorce you will be a free man. I was thinking about you getting married and I will be the best man or best woman.”
“Oh. And that made you sad?” He said while looking at the road.
“Maybe we should talk about this when all of our stuff is completed moved in. Ok?” She said hoping the conversation will never come up again.
“Ok. But I want to have this conversation and I don’t want you to avoid this.” Damn him for him for knowing what she was thinking.
The rest of the way to their new home or a least Loren was quiet. He kept thinking to himself that she think that she would be out the picture when he gets married. Every time he brought her dinner at work that week could image her working late and him and the children would come to see their mother. It was all in his head. He knew that she didn’t think of him like that. He knew that he shouldn’t be thinking or her like that. Every night before he fall of sleep he would see her the way she looked when he came over her apartment after finding out about Maria. All she had on was a wife beater shirt and panties. He thanked God that the temptation hadn’t overwhelm him.
After arriving at the house Robert open the car door for her like he always did when they went somewhere. He told her since this is her house she should open the door on moving day. Loren opens the door and almost dropped her purse that was on her arm because all the pictures from the apartment and some that she wanted to buy was on the wall. She went into the kitchen and all the dishes were there. Then she entered the bathrooms and everything was put up and decorated. Then she went to the den then to the living room and everything was done.
Amazed that he did this she started to get emotionally. She walked the whole house and everything was done except her room. She went to find him and all the furniture was put in the house. They brought in her bed and Robert paid them extra to put my bed together. The ten boxes was her stuff. The only thing she didn’t decide when Robert and her were walking the house that she couldn’t figure how to decorate is her room. So when she finally found Robert she ran up to him. Her plan was to give him a hug, but end up kissing him.
He returned every kiss more passionately then she did. Then she realized what she was doing then stopped. She looked into his eyes and there was something she never saw before. One of the movers tapped Robert on the shoulders and he turn around and that was her hint to leave. So she went into her bedroom. She just sat on the bed that the movers put together. Her heart started to pound faster as the door close to the entrance of the house. Her heart didn’t seem to stop it got faster and louder when she heard a knock on the door.
“Loren, we need to talk. Can I come in?”
She didn’t want to talk about it. All she wanted to do is act like it never happen. Who is she kidding she would dream about this kiss. She wanted to tell him that nothing like would happen again, but when she opened her mouth nothing came out of it. No words no nothing. Would he forgive her? It was this answer to the question she didn’t say yet that stop from coming.
“Loren, talk to me. Do you want me to leave?” She came out of her room and looked him into his eyes.
“I don’t want you to leave. I want you to stay. I kind of got emotionally back there. I was surprise that you did all of this. I really meant to just hug you, but it didn’t work out like that. I am so sorry.” She said not looking at him this time.
“You don’t have anything to be sorry about. What do you want to do?”
“I want to go back to how things were.”
“Are sure that is what you want?”
“Yes, I am.” No, this isn’t what she wanted. She wanted to kiss him again until it would land them in bed. But she couldn’t because he is still married and she is still friends with his wife. And she would be going to London in a week for a month she didn’t tell Robert because she will be staying with Maria.
“Do you have to go to work tomorrow?”
“No, I have the week off. Maybe we should talk about the week after next week. Every time that I go to talk to you about it I just chicken out. Let’s go in the living room.” Feeling her heart started to race not because she just kiss him. It was because she just kissed him and she will be staying with his ex-wife. And is she trying to play she wanted to do that the moment that she met him in that classroom. Oh my God what did she do? He just stared at her and went into the den first. He sat down and waited for her to speak.
“Robert, I have to go on a business trip that might last one to three months. I took my vacation this week so I have a chance to breathe before I went.”
“You’re leaving for that long. You just moved into your house and you leave it so soon. How long did you know about it?”
“I knew the week after you move into my apartment, but that isn’t the worst part. I will be staying with a friend in London. Maria.”
“I thought you and Maria lost contact after you took her to the airport.” He said to Loren with surprise.
“No, I didn’t lose contact with her. In fact she writes me at least three times a week. I hope you are not mad at me. This is my last week with you. I know I probably mess that up with you with the kiss. But trust me I didn’t mean to do it. This was the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me.” She said searching his eyes for forgiveness.
“We are friends. If you say you didn’t mean to kiss me I will take you at your word. Just tell me is this why you agree for me to stay here with you because you wouldn’t be here for a couples months?” He said sounding livid.
“Wait before you get upset let me tell you that no that isn’t the reason why I agreed. Can’t you see how much you do for me?” She said holding his hand and now calming him down.
“No, I don’t do much. In fact you have done more for me than I have for you.” He said quieter. “You help me get back to myself. All I did was decorated your house and cooked a couple meals. That’s all.
“Sometimes I wish…. Are you sure that you aren’t mad about me staying with Maria?” She whispered.
“No, I am not mad, I do understand. You and Maria are friends just like you and I are friends. I want you consider me as your friend. Don’t keep anything from me anymore. I don’t care if you think it is going to hurt me. Ok? Promise me?”
“I promise.” This time she gave him a hug. The hug was tight and full of love. He smiles at Loren and then leaves the house. All of sudden she didn’t know weather he was going and not coming back. How did she get herself into this mess?
Chapter Six
Robert knew that she probably would be wondering why he left. He knew that if he knew that she was leaving he would have fix her leaving kit. He called the airport and book at fight back home. He needed to talk to his father. The flight was about four hours. He called his brother to come and pick him up. He hadn’t really talked to his father since him and Maria moved down there. He needs his father’s advice. When he arrived at his father’s home it was two o’clock in the afternoon. He knew he was in trouble when he kisses her back. His mother went to visit is sister in New York. His father never liked New York because it was too busy.
“Robert what’s wrong? I haven’t really seen you in four years. Not really. You come home from time to time, but not like this.” His father said with concern in his eyes.
“Have you ever like someone else Pop? Maria told me she didn’t love me anymore. She told me that’s why she didn’t want to have children with me. Now she lives in London. I guess she had to fly across the world to get away from me.” Robert told his father.
“I never like Maria. I been keeping it too long now I can tell you that. She is too selfish. You gave up your life and all she gave up was her last name. How long ago did this happen?”
“This happen about a month ago. We are getting a divorce in four months. She asked me if I could wait that long.”
“You wait about a month before telling me. What is this about? Oh, I know. You like someone else. Let me guess Loren.
“How did you know?”
“I maybe gotten older in years, but I am not stupid it. The first time you met her you called me on one of the days where you were drinking about this beautiful cinnamon sweet woman who loves sports. Did you know that for the first time since I met Maria I seen her being scared that she would lose you to another woman? She call me about your history with women. Are you in love with her?”
“Dad, I don’t know. Right now I am doing a really dumb thing. I am living with her. Trust me we are not having sex or anything. We are just roommates.” Robert tells his father.
“Does she know you are here?”
“No, she told me her job is sending her to London and she is staying with Maria This is next week. She has this week off. We just moved into the house to day. What do I do Dad? What do I do?”
“Bring her here I want to met her myself. Go call her now and book a fight. Today is Monday. I want you come Wednesday for her to meet me. Do it now.” His father said while handing him the phone.
He booked a fight out in two hours. He didn’t know why his father wanted to meet her. He wanted her to stay until Friday. He arrived at Loren’s house at eight at night. He opened the door expecting it to be a fight. But he got there he could smell something wonderful. She was standing in the living room. She went and hugged him. She took him by the hand and fix him dinner. The table was all set. She went into the kitchen and got the meal.
“Your father called me after you left his house. He told me that he wanted me to come to meet him and your mom who is coming back on Friday. He told me how to cook your favorite meal” Loren said to Robert.
“He did. I am sorry. Do you want to come and meet my father? I know how strange it is to meet him.”
“Robert.” Loren said to him in a whisper. “I would love to meet your father. He sounds like a cool dude.”
Robert was speechless. He was expecting a fight instead he got his favorite meal. The only time his father wants to meet someone if he was dating them or marrying them. He wish he would have let his father met Maria before they were engaged. He watched as she went to her room. He wondered what she must have thought of him.
One thing Loren knew about fathers is that they always knew. It was a good thing that he came home when he came home or he would have seen her cry. She knew that what she did by kissing him would change their relationship for good. She went to change her clothes, but she really wanted a quick time to think. She hoped that she could cook it like his father cooked it. She came out of her room to find that Robert’s plate was empty.
“Do you want some more?”
“Loren, that was the best I had taste it. Don’t tell my dad, but better than his. Please give me seconds.”
She smiled to herself that he wanted more of her food. Today was Monday and she agree to his father over the phone. Why did she do it? She had a weakness for the kindness of parents. His father told her that he wanted to see what his new roommate look like. She was going to tell him no, but Robert’s father had an unusual sexy voice. It wasn’t too deep or too soft. Just sexy. Deep down inside the real reason that she said yes is because he sounded like Robert on the phone. She knew what or who she should talk to. Jason Hardy. Jason, besides Robert was her best friend. After Mr. Martin called her she was left with nothing to do, but call Jason. She had already called Jason and she was going to spend a night at his house. Not for sex, but for someone to talk to. He had been out of the loop with Robert moving with her mostly because she didn’t want to tell him. She knew that Jason was not going to approve of what she was doing. She put on her jogging clothes, but yet it made her body look wonderful. She packed a small suit case and put it and walk out her bedroom door.
Robert looks at Loren as she walks out of her room. She had on one of his favorite outfits he likes to see her in. The jogging suit made her booty look like to melons put side by side in perfection. Her shirt was tight enough that made her breast look full. After he came back down to reality he notices the suitcase in her hand. It was her special suitcase that means only one thing. Jason Hardy. He remembered meeting Jason at his first day in cooking class. He knew that he was good looking, but nothing like Jason. Every time they hung out woman would became bolder around him. He thought that Loren would subsume with his charm and his looks, but she never was. The only time she go and spend a night with Jason was when something bother him. He knew it wasn’t for sex. This was because she was going to see his father.
When he saw her walk out of the door he knew that he wanted a relationship with her like she had with Jason. Truth be told he had the same relationship with him as she
He was lucky to catch him before he went out of town. Jason suggested staying with Loren until his divorce was finalized. He thought that was crazy, but the more he spent with her the more sense it made to just be around her. It was her smell he told himself. That he wanted the smell of candy all around. True, he could buy the scent and spray it all over the hotel room or his old house. But what straight guy goes around spraying fruity smells that wasn’t to cover the smell of the number two he just had in the bathroom? The funny thing about her was the whole house smell of candy except for her bedroom which smells like fresh bake cookies right out of the oven. He knew going over to his father’s house with her wasn’t going to be easy. All thanks to Jason Hardy. Although Jason kept to himself that he was attracted to Loren when they first met.
Loren arrived at Jason’s house forty minutes later. She knew that she would have pick up supplies which includes a jar of pickles, tuna, Gouda cheese, French bread, and coffee ice cream and a side of Oreos cookies. She thought to herself these were really weird comfort foods. Jason opened the door with his unusual good looking self. The very first cooking class that she had, she met Jason Hardy. She thought to herself this was one fine looking man. He was about six-one, brown hair, and blue eyes. When she started the class she was dating someone and when she wasn’t he was. Since they liked each others company they became friends and stead of something more. She had likes the relationship. Plus when she got horny she could call Jason and they would go to the gym to exercise her frustration away.
Jason takes away her groceries that were in her hands and put it on his kitchen table. Jason knew that this was about Robert. He would be happen when they finally get together. He knew that in Loren’s eyes he was the better man. Sometimes he wish he could be like the typical guy and watch sports, but he never like watching anything that he could do himself. He was sometimes very jealous of their relationship because they did all kinds of stuff together. She sat at his kitchen and waited to start the card game. Poker. Lovely poker. When she is mad she needs venue to lay all her anger down. She fixes her plate. She open one of the cans of tuna and put it on her plate. She slices the French bread and put it beside it. She put the pickles in middle of the plate while putting the Gouda cheese on the other side of the plate. She takes a bowl and fill it up first with crushed Oreos cookies than put the ice cream on top then some more Oreos. Jason thought to himself that’s the problem. She has everything in its place. He made it into one big sandwich adding lettuce and tomatoes with mayo.
“What’s wrong? Lately the on time you come to see me when something is wrong. So what is it?” Jason said.
“You acted as if I don’t talk to you almost every day. We kissed. And he moved into my house. Everything was perfect. He went to church with my father and watches the big game with him. What is wrong with me?”
“First off, calm down. Secondly, throwing some words together and expect me to know what they mean aren’t going to work. Let’s start from the beginning. I have a feeling you didn’t go in order. So start talking
.”
She started from the beginning and told him how she accidently answers door half expose. She told him how started to live with her. She told him how he went to church and met her father. She told him about Robert moving in with her in her new house. Also how she kisses him and he went to his father’s house. She told Jason how she cooked and left.
“So, how do you feel about the kiss? You gave me the facts I want you to give me how you feel. So, how do you feel about it?”
“I feel lost. When I am around him it makes me hope then I become sad. I know that even if there was a small chance that he likes me it wouldn’t go pass like. The kiss was amazing. I almost fell backwards after the kiss.”
“I know you still keep in contact with Maria. Are you lost because you are still friends with her?”
“Jason, I am lost because I have this beautiful man in my life that keeps sinking deeper and deeper and I can’t do anything about it because it is wrong. It is wrong on so many levels. Now he wants me meet his father on Wednesday.”
“What? Did he want you to me his father or did his father wanted to meet you?” Jason said.
“His father wanted to meet me. You know what that mean don’t you? His father gave him instruction on how to cook his favorite foods. He told me to stay out of the house when he got there. So, I was just doing what his father ask me.”
“That’s strange. So this is the real reason why you are over here not because you want to see me, but because Mr. Martin asked you?” He said like he really wants to know.
