He fixes his food and notice that she waited for him to sit down before eating. She takes the chicken lo mien and poured sweet and sour sauce all over it. Then put it on the cheese pizza. She takes one huge bit.
“I have a hard time digesting the noodles with out the sweet and sour sauce. It’s the peanut oil that they cook it that it is hard digest. And I love chicken lo mien.” She answers before he asked.
Robert just smiled and watched as she ate. Normally a woman taking so many huge bits would have been a turn-off, but not the way she ate her food. He thought it was cute. She might have taken a large bit, but before she put anymore food in her mouth she waited until she finishes. Plus it was almost as if she was kissing the food before putting her mouth. It was hard not to think about sex at this very moment, but he told himself that he had to think about anything else, but that.
He started to eat his food and she wonders what she must have looked like to him. She knew that she should be more lady like and take small bits, but she was hungry. She finishes her food before his. She goes to the kitchen to rinse off her dish so she could put her desert on her plate. He loves how she slowly eats the desert as if savor every single favor of the German chocolate cake. At that moment he wishes he was the fork. He told himself not to stare at him to long. He wanted to eat the desert another time.
“You wanted to talk? So what do what want to talk about?” Loren said as she stared to face him.
“Why do you always go to Jason? Every time there is a problem with our friendship you always go to him. I thought we were friends, but I feel like you just push me aside and don’t let me in.”
“Before I answer your question answer me this. Why do you want to know?”
“Loren, I thought we were friends. It just hurts my feelings ok.”
“Do want to know the truth? The truth is that most people that I really care about that I talk about my feelings even up leaving me. Or it because something that is twisted and I had to end up leaving them and breaking up the friendship.”
“We are friends. You can tell me anything.”
“Ok, let’s try this, I think when I come back from London I think you need to find your own place. I will be gone for four months and it would be pointless for you to leave now.”
“You know I been thinking about the same thing. How did you come to this conclusion?” Robert said understanding why she feels that way, but wanted her to say it out loud.
“At first I knew where our friendship stood. Now it has taken an weird turn every since you and Maria split. Now I don’t know where it is heading.”
Where do you want it to lead to? “What do you mean by weird?”
“What I mean is unique? Robert I really like your parents. Your father is bold and very straight forward. Your mother is the sweetest person I met but still she is almost as bold as your father. You met my parents too. Don’t you think it is weird?”
“I do think is weird, but it feels comfortable. It is nice to have your father welcome me so kindly. Your mother is just a lovely person just like her daughter.”
“You are right it doesn’t feel weird that’s what so weird about you. I like more than I thought I could. I don’t want to get in the way for when it time to you to start dating again.”
“You won’t be. I like you and that isn’t going to change ‘if’ I start to date again after the divorce. Promise me when there is something about me you don’t like about me you will come to me about it.”
“I promise.”
Loren had waken up with a sense of sensual awareness as if her whole body felt good. That day she spent trying to avoid Robert as much as she can. She didn’t know whether it was the fact it was her last day or what. She wanted to be touch. Or maybe it was her dream about he lifting her off her feet. Although the day she couldn’t let go of that dream. She had gotten wet every time she thought about it and especially when she saw Robert in that morning when he came to breakfast with no shirt. She didn’t have any idea that he work out that day. She had two hours to get ready for their date. Their date. No, their casual eating out as friend dinner remember.
Robert was nervous about the dinner because he didn’t know if he could kept his hands to himself. He had awoke in the middle of the night after their talk to get some leftover chicken lo mien when he heard a noise and it was coming out of Loren’s room. The closer he had gotten to the room the closer he could hear what the sound was. It was Loren sensual high pitch moaning. Just the moan set him into erection state. All he remembered thinking he wanted to lift her out her bed and open legs to taste the sweet favor of her desire for him. He had to jack-off twice before he go to sleep. He was sad that she leaving, but happy she was because that sound would haunt his desires for a while. He was afraid that if she stayed he would take her and throw up against a wall some where. When he gotten up for breakfast he totally forgot his shirt and he was already hot for looking at her. She had the look that she was satisfy. She smiled and he was glad he didn’t get erection until after she left for the morning. He knew that he was in trouble. The only thing that stop him from making a moved on her was the fact he was married. His marriage was about to end and he would be free. He put on his blue shirt with his light blue shirt, sliver tie and black shoes. He waited into Loren’s living room for five minutes when she came out of the room. The first thing he saw was red open end shoes with beautifully polish toes coming out. His eyes wander up to see her cinnamon shapely legs to see a red dress with showing no cleave. He looked up to her face. She had her hair in curls. Her eyes seems to sparkle to him.
“Uh, you look amazing. Beautiful. Wow.” Damn he thought himself if he thought her moan could do it looking at her now he knew he was in trouble.
“Oh, thanks. You look good too. Are you ready to go?” Loren said trying not for him to turn around for her.
“Yes, let’s go.”
Loren was amazed how good Robert looked. Pulling into a restaurant that she had wanted to go, Le Dream. Everyone she ever knew that went there said it was the most beautiful and best tasting food. The restaurant was a very unusual one because it had three chefs specializing and three different international foods. You had the French, Italian, and American. Le Dream was always pack out with cars. The restaurants were also the largest ones in the city. Le Dream had a section for people who want to dance. Robert knew the chef who was a friend of his family. Chris had always been a bit of a lady’s man. When the waitress finally sat them down Loren was amazed at the scenery. It looked like what the castle that Cinderella went to a ball in. There was trees at each corner of the restaurant and there was orchids every where, Every table had a flower arrangement on them. Loren thought she was in a dream.
“Someone once told me the best memory of a person or a friend is last moments that you spend with them. So what do you think about restaurant?” Robert said as he was still amazed how beautiful her eyes stare into him.
“I think this place is lovely. Do you come here often?” Loren said as looked around.
“I used to before I married Maria. I know that my parents live someone else. I was going to move down here and be part owner of this place, but the night I was supposed to come down here I met Maria. Well, my parents was going to set me up on a blind date then I was going to come and be part owner.”
“Why didn’t move down here when you got married? Why didn’t go ahead and be part owner?” Loren said with seriousness.
“When you get married you make campaniles. Let’s leave it at that. My friend Chris works here and is part owner of this place. I want you to meet him. He never met Maria because she didn’t want to have competition for her restaurant. Like I said the last moment has to count so no more talk of Maria. You get see Maria for three to four months.”
The waitress took their orders. Robert had a lot on his mind as the waitress finish taken Loren’s order. He wanted this
to be a night to remember, but it seems like the night let him down. He was sitting in front of the woman he craved and all he could do is stare at her from time to time. He told his friend Chris, the chef, to come out to meet them when they were half through the meal. When they got their food there still was silence. There were countless things unsaid. The string of emotion would be felt tomorrow. He was glad to see his friend heading their way.
When Chris came to the table he smiled at the woman that was at the table. Chris had went to college with Loren. He was very surprised with the turn of events that he found himself in. Chris had only saw a picture of Robert’s wife and Loren wasn’t her. Chris thought to himself did Loren know that Robert was marred? He knew that Robert could tell what he was thinking. Chris was the only friend that really didn’t know anything about his failing marriage with Maria. Chris had never been the type of man to say anything in front his friend’s date. He could wait to get Robert alone so that he could talk to him alone. He was about to make a scene. Chris shook Robert’s hand when he arrived at the table and had a stare that he needed to talk him. Then he turn to Loren.
“Hello, Loren it’s been along time.” Chris said worried.
“I almost forgot you own this restaurant.” Loren said to her friend that she only talked to a couple times a year.
“You must have since I haven’t seen you here before. I wanted to tell you that offer is still good if you wanted to take it.” Chris said with a smile talking about her being part owner to the restaurant.
If Robert would have came earlier that day he was asking him to be part owner of the restaurant. He would have met Loren a little over ten years ago. Chris laugh slightly to himself and wonder how they met.
“What are you talking about?” Robert said as he thought Chris you can’t have her. He was starting to regret taking Loren.
Chris turned around to Robert. “Do you remember about ten years ago when I, we, wanted to go into business together?” Chris waited until Robert gave him a sign of understanding. “Well, I had asked Loren to be to part owner. Loren and me went to college together. She just finished college when I offer. When you didn’t show up she turned it down because you didn’t come that day. Loren ended up doing amazing job with the advertising of this place.” Chris said making light of the situation.
“Do you mean? Oh, my God. That means. Oh.” Robert said.
“You are Robby. When you didn’t show up I took the job that I have now. You not showing up shook my conscience in the restaurant. I was afraid that if even his friend wouldn’t show up at this restaurant then how could it work? So for three years I helped with the advertising with this place.” Loren said with amazement.
“You should have seen her. She even helped with the design. It took eighteen months to build it. But, she only came by the restaurant only twice before I added little changes. She couldn’t come by the restaurant because she was always working. Even the little PR work she did for me she did on her lunch break or on Sunday afternoon.” Chris said.
“Which reminded me that I still owe you a check could you stay see me before you leave. Oh, I almost forgot that the meal is on me.” Chris said.
“Guys, will you please excuse me. I have to go to the lady’s restroom.” Loren said as she got up.
Chris watches her walk away and then turns to Robert. “My old friend what are you doing?”
“I am not doing anything. I forgot to tell you that Maria and I are getting a divorce. She moved to London over a month ago.” Robert said.
“Loren is a sweet and amazing person. She did the work for me for almost free. Don’t break her heart. So what is this a date?” Chris said seriously.
“No, mom. Loren and I have been friends for four years. Her company is sending her to London too for four months. And she is staying with my about-to-be ex-wife.” Robert said trying not to think about it.
“Oh, good. I can tell you like her, but my friend that is just funny. Tell me the details next week. I know I told her that offer is still on the table, but it goes for you too. The only reason why you didn’t come to the restaurant and take ownership is because of your wife. Now there is still that window of opportunity.” Chris said.
“Why would you want either of us to be part owners now? Look at your restaurant business is doing well.”
“I want to expand and you and Loren are the two people I trust with taking care of this restaurant while I go open another down in another city. I am planning on doing this in about in one year. Can you be part owner?” Chris said acutely.
“I don’t think there is a problem with doing so. Thanks for still including me.” Robert said.
“Anytime. When your divorce is final are you going to ask her out? If you do wait six months to a year then ask her. This will give your heart enough time to heal.” Chris left before Robert could reply.
Loren came back from the restroom. She only went to the restroom because she knew that Chris and Robert needed to talk. She didn’t sit down she extended her hand as the music played. Robert grabbed her hand and he leads her on the dance floor and they started to dance. He was close enough to smell her and he always wanted to be that close to her. He wanted to her to some where and make love to her, but this good enough just to be close to her. It was enough for now. She put her head on his shoulders and he felt loved. After ten years of marriage he never felt this way. Loved just for being himself.
Loren body was still tingling after he held her in the dance. They went by Chris’ office to put a check. Loren had been surprise how much the check was. It was more than her whole house. She wished that things were different. Over ten years ago Loren had wanted to have a family. She long for it, but when Robert never shown up that day she lost hope. She didn’t understand then why not meeting a man could change her life until now. She was afraid that her heart couldn’t take living with Maria, but they were friends. They arrived at the house and her heart skips a couple of beats. She felt like they were on a date. He walked her to her bedroom and extended her hand for handshake, but she couldn’t help, but to give him a hug. She held on tight to each other and she turn around and with to her room.
Robert went straight to his room to get a towel so he could take a really cold shower. It seem like since he met her that is all that he been doing was taken cold shower after cold shower. Tomorrow she was leaving and in the movies the man takes the woman and kiss the woman passionately, but this wasn’t the movies. This is real life. He must let her go without capacitating their relationship. Plus he knew that if he did something like that she would have felt like she betrayed Maria. So once again he wasn’t going do anything, but take her to the airport tomorrow.
After walking to her room Loren lend against her bedroom door. She didn’t know what was going on with her. She seems to be over heating. She needed to cool down so she ran the cold water. She enter the shower letting the water run down her body. Oddly enough the water didn’t feel cold to her it felt like she was warm. She was trying not to think about what happen that night. She like that they sat at a table not saying anything to each other. She like when he danced with her leaving no empty space. She was falling for him.
Robert woke up before Loren at least that what he guess because she wasn’t out of her room. She was going to take a fight that schedule to take off in four hours. He had to make sure she had a good breakfast. He made her coffee just the way that she liked it, strong. He made breakfast like she like it without any meat, but he cooked some just in case she wanted some.
Loren was planning on getting up much earlier than she did, but she fell asleep five hours ago. She was awaken by the smell of coffee. She had put on some clothes because she slept completely naked it. The night previous it was like her clothes were chocking her. She was so glad she already packed. She came into the kitchen and Robert already had her cup of coffee ready in hand. He fixes her a plate and she found h
erself being disappointed. The last couple days she ate nothing, but meat in the morning. She wanted so good old bacon.
“Thanks for cooking breakfast. Did you cook any bacon? I have a taste for some.” Loren said.
“I thought you didn’t eat meat at breakfast time.” Robert smiled.
“Normally, I don’t, but it’s you and your family who make have a taste for bacon. Since you lived with me most of the breakfast you cooked with meat and now you fixing me breakfast how I used to have it.” Loren said.
Before he could allow himself to reply he hands her the plate with the bacon on it. She smiled and ate what was on the plate making sure she left him at least three pieces of bacon. He then pours himself a cup of coffee and sat down opposite from her. They both took their plates to the den and watch cartoons. When Loren looked like she was finished with her plate. He put he dishes in the sink. He takes her coffee cup and fills it up putting the right amount of cream and sugar. He fixes himself another cup of coffee also. He felt like it was nice for them to sit down and watch something as juvenile as cartoons. It was only eight o’clock in the morning. They had gone to church together since the first time that they went to church together, but she is leaving soon. After the both finished their coffee then he went back to the kitchen to clean off the dishes they just used. He was so glad he washed the dishes that he cooked in. She went into her room to put the clothes in the car. After she did that she spray her bed with perfume she waited by the door of her house.
“Are ready to go? I made you a lunch before you go on the plane.” Robert hands her sack lunch.
Loren told herself that would be a lot easier than she thought, but it was already hard. He cooked and washed the dishes. She likes that and he fixes her some food before going on the plane. All through the car ride to the airport all she could think that she was going to miss him. There was so much traffic on the road. She wondered who would like to work at airport. She probably would be a nervous wreak.
